Features

Built for people who already rely on AI.

ChatEngram is not another AI interface. It is the memory layer that works quietly alongside the AI tools you already use.

This page explains what ChatEngram does once it is installed - behavior and boundaries, in plain language.

Automatic conversation capture

Your AI conversations are saved without manual steps.

ChatEngram captures conversations from supported AI platforms while you chat normally. There is nothing to click, copy, or configure.

Why this matters: important context is preserved automatically instead of being lost when a tab closes or a session ends.

Searchable conversation history

Find past AI conversations when you need them.

Captured conversations are searchable, so you can quickly find things you already discussed with AI - even weeks later.

This is especially useful when:

  • You remember asking something before but cannot recall the details.
  • You want to reuse an explanation, idea, or solution.
  • You do not want to repeat the same prompt again.

Search works across time, not just within a single session.

Works with your existing workflow

No new interface to learn.

ChatEngram does not replace ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or other AI tools. It works alongside them. You keep using AI the same way you already do, and ChatEngram stays out of the way.

This is intentional: the goal is to reduce friction, not introduce a new workflow.

Local-first by default

Your data stays on your device.

By default, conversations are stored locally in your browser. Core capture works without an account.

ChatEngram does not upload your conversation content to our servers. If you create an account, we store basic account and licensing information to provide plan management and billing. The extension may also send anonymous usage events to ChatEngram-controlled endpoints to improve reliability.

If you enable integrations (for example, Notion or local file sync to Google Drive / OneDrive), your browser sends conversation content directly to that service using the configuration you provide.

You remain in control of your conversations.

Export and external syncing (optional)

Use your AI conversations beyond your browser.

ChatEngram is designed to be local-first. When you need access outside your current browser or want long-term archiving, you can export or sync conversations to tools you already use.

Supported destinations include:

  • Obsidian (local Markdown folder)
  • Notion (cloud API)
  • Google Drive / OneDrive (local sync folder)

Local by default. External sync only when you choose.

Supported AI platforms

ChatEngram supports multiple AI platforms, including:

  • ChatGPT (Free and Pro)
  • DeepSeek (Free and Pro)
  • Copilot on copilot.microsoft.com (Pro / Lifetime)
  • Claude (Pro / Lifetime)
  • Gemini (Pro / Lifetime)
  • Perplexity (Pro / Lifetime)
  • Grok on grok.com (Pro / Lifetime)

Support expands over time as platforms change. The principle stays the same: no workflow change, no extra steps.

Designed for long-term use

Value increases over time.

ChatEngram becomes more useful the longer you use it. As more conversations are captured, search becomes more powerful, context builds naturally, and past thinking stays accessible.

Optional Pro features

For heavier, long-term usage.

Some users unlock additional features designed for higher-volume usage, such as:

  • Global search across platforms
  • History backfill
  • Exports and integrations (Notion, Obsidian, Google Drive, OneDrive)
  • Adapter Lab for custom capture rules

These features are optional. You can continue using ChatEngram without upgrading.

Summary

ChatEngram focuses on one thing: making sure your AI conversations do not disappear.

It does not ask you to change how you work. It simply remembers what you already did - quietly, and on your terms.

Hint

Already using ChatEngram? You can access history, settings, and optional features directly from the extension. Account and plan management happens on chatengram.com.
